THE STORY
The Equivits Journey started when we saw a pattern of horses with chronic and recurrent lameness and on-going inflammation. Paired with this was no real mainstream way of dealing with the problem without pharmaceutical intervention. We realised that one of the main boundaries encountered with oral administration of supplements is the poor intestinal uptake of many nutrients in horses due to the unique design of their digestive systems, which diminishes the effectiveness of the product being administered.
TeSTING
Our solution was to design a vitamin D3 study, administering a standard dose to each horse in the study and testing their vitamin D3 levels in their blood each week. The results straight out of the gate were very exciting, producing positive results in all subjects. What's more, we identified an association between increased level of lameness and health status of the horses with blood vitamin D3 levels. The D3 study proved that our delivery method and absorption rate not only works but is highly effective with horses. The positive results of the initial study led us to develop and test our joint care products, which showed and continue to show excellent results without any side effects.
